New distribution center for Moonen Packaging at business park De Kempen in Weert

Moonen Packaging has signed a long-term lease agreement with HVBM Vastgoed and Beleggingsmaatschappij Bruil for a new warehouse with head office at business park De Kempen in Weert. The design takes into account the growth ambition of Moonen Packaging and is CO2 neutral. The new building therefore also fits the sustainable mission and vision of Moonen Packaging.

The 'built to suit' new development concerns 1.761 m² of office space, 18.933 m² of warehouse space and 1.443 m² mezzanine on a plot of 39.290 m². The design of Quadrant4 takes into account the growth ambition of Moonen Packaging and provides for a future expansion with approximately 4,305 m² warehouse space.

The sustainable and gasless building is being developed and realized by HVBM Vastgoed to the latest standard in logistics real estate. HVBM Vastgoed and Moonen Packaging strive for a building that meets the BREEAM standard 'Very Good'.

The extra step - with love for the planet
"In Europe we are leaders in compostable packaging, based on renewable raw materials. We are proud of being one of the greenest companies in the Netherlands and winner of the 3rd Lean & Green Star in sustainable logistics," says Gé Moonen, director at Moonen Packaging. "Our current building offered insufficient space for our sustainable ambitions. We want to grow, but with love for the planet. The new building at De Kempen in Weert is not only bigger, but also greener. The building will be equipped with solar panels and is completely CO2 neutral. We are already looking forward to the movement! "

The object will be taken into use by Moonen Packaging in mid-2020.

Moonen Packaging is originally a reputable and fast growing family business from Weert. The company was founded more than 60 years ago and has grown into a leading and fast-growing distributor of cost-efficient and environmentally friendly packaging solutions in the Benelux.

In mid-2018 Moonen Packaging was taken over by OptiGroup, one of the largest suppliers of business essentials in Europe with a turnover of € 1.5 billion. The new location of Moonen Packaging in Weert must contribute to the further strengthening of the market position of OptiGroup in the Benelux.

In the realization of this transaction, Moonen Packaging was advised by RSP Makelaars from Eindhoven. HVBM Vastgoed and Beleggingsmaatschappij Bruil were advised by Saelmans Makelaardij from Weert.
