BREEAM OUTSTANDING e-commerce DC De Bijenkorf and Ingram Micro officially opened in Tilburg!
On 29 August De Bijenkorf, Ingram Micro and HVBM Vastgoed received a good company in the brand new distribution centre of over 82,000 m2 for the festive opening.
After an extensive tour of the sustainable logistics building the official moment; Alderman Berend de Vries of the municipality of Tilburg and King's Commissioner Wim van de Donk cut the ribbon.
The building designed by Dedato Architects has been custom developed and realized for Ingram Micro and De Bijenkorf. During the festive opening, developer and landlord HVBM Vastgoed and tenants Ingram Micro and De Bijenkorf also received the BREEAM Outstanding certificate, the highest sustainability standard in logistics real estate from BREEAM Adviser Quadrant4.
The roof of the building is equipped with solar panels that generate more than 3 Megawatt of electricity, sufficient to provide the tenants of the building and more than 600 households with electricity. It is an energy neutral building where no gas is used. In addition, the building is effectively cooled and heated by the use of heat pumps and TES system (heat and cold storage that uses soil energy for heating and cooling the building).
Ingram Micro provides the logistics operation for De Bijenkorf in this modern sustainable distribution centre. The department stores are supplied from the distribution centre and the e-commerce activities are handled.
