BREEAM-NL Sustainability Certificate 'Excellent' for PLUS DC Deventer
The brand-new fresh distribution center in Deventer has received the BREEAM-NL sustainability certificate with an Excellent rating. During the development of the new distribution center, sustainability requirements played an important role. The building and the surrounding area have been designed to be circular and nature-inclusive. Additionally, there is an in-house solar power installation with over 14,000 solar panels.
Björn Bertrand, Real Estate Director of PLUS, Tony Vendrig, Supply Chain Director of PLUS, Adriaan Molenschot, Managing Director of developer HVBM Vastgoed and Willem van der Meijden, Commercial Director of HVBM Vastgoed, received the certificate from Roy Bruggeman of architect and BREEAM Expert Quadrant4.
Björn Bertrand: “From the beginning, we wanted to create a distribution center that not only brings more efficiency but also meets high sustainability standards. This BREEAM certification shows that we have succeeded in this endeavor thanks to all our construction partners.”
High Sustainability Standards
The most striking sustainability measure is perhaps the in-house solar power installation with over 14,000 solar panels. They have an installed capacity of 8 MWp, generating over 7 million kWh of solar power annually. PLUS has created a pleasant and atmospheric working environment for employees, with plenty of daylight and a comfortable climate. Additionally, a score of 100% was achieved in waste management, and significant efforts were made in water-saving facilities. Particular attention was paid to landscape integration and nature-inclusivity. The materials used for the interior finishing have minimal emissions of harmful substances. All these efforts have resulted in a BREEAM-Excellent score.
